What is Christmas about

pasted image 0(7).png

Christmas has not always been about opening gifts or having a nice dinner with dear ones. Christmas is also known as the festival of love, harmony, peace, and brotherhood. This festival is celebrated among Christians, but not only by them.

This festival is originally celebrated on the 25th of December, although other cultures may celebrate it another day, for example, Colombia, which celebrates it on the 24th of December at midnight. Christians celebrate in a very religious way, which celebrates Jesus’ birth, every 25th of December there's a mass to commemorate this special date. Christians believe this date is “The Biggest Day” because it's the day that our savior was born, although other cultures may think differently and prefer to celebrate in their own way. Even though we live in a world full of different beliefs, this festival is considered the most celebrated one in the whole world, especially because everyone meets with their family and friends to share quality time and feed their beliefs.

Nowadays things have changed a lot, and since there are a lot of young people in the world, these traditions have been modified, although their motive hasn't changed, the ways of practicing them are now alternate. For instance, people are now forgetting about the “old” customs and are creating their own now. The young ones prefer to celebrate love and friendship and they show it by giving gifts to their special ones. Still, there are the elders who don't care about this and like to dress up as Santa and give the kids an unforgettable moment that will stay forever in their hearts.

Even though generations are celebrating this festival in different ways, the spirit will always be there, and sharing with family and friends is still one of the biggest motives to keep celebrating this date!
