Restaurant recommendation
"Gitane"

My heart and stomach became best friends when I entered to Gitane, an alluring restaurant in 83 st #9 – 48, in Chapinero. This Mediterranean restaurant took me on a trip to the Mediterranean coast countries like Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, etc, all were added to the gastronomic tour. It's groovy, rusty, warm, and its slow-down vibe and soft music made me feel at home.

Gitane has a diverse and delicious menu, but here are my top 5 dishes that you should definitely try:

The first is “octopus slices with olive oil and herbs”. It's a sort of Carpaccio, but with cooked octopus. Regardless of the fact that many people are not fond of octopus, for me, it’s delicious, and even more with the mixture of olive oil and the fresh taste of the herbs. Try it! I highly recommend it.

The second is “warm tempura eggplants with pepperoncini and labneh”. They are extremely delicious, a fusion between salt and sweet, crispy on the outside and soft inside. It’s a Bocato di Cardinale. The pepperoncini give it a slightly spicy taste. Delicious!

 The third is “pita bread slices with beetroot hummus and goat cheese, babaganoush, and labneh dips”. You can combine the dips and you’ll have a perfect entree, to follow with the fourth dish:

 “Grilled rigatoni with bolognese sauce”, although this restaurant is not an Italian one, its pasta is the best one I have ever tried. Their bolognese sauce is creamy and fuses perfectly with the gooey mozzarella cheese.

To end with a saccharine flavor, it’s time for the fifth and last dish: “Lemon pavlova with ice cream”.
