"You can overcome anything if, and only if, you love something enough"

- Lionel Messi

Throughout the past months in ninth grade, we worked in a book called “The Outsiders”. It is a very deep and emotional book written by S.E Hinton in which we can identify Ponyboy's unforgettable experiences alongside his friends and his enemies. It is my firm belief that all the experiences we Have throughout life have the purpose of teaching us a lesson, and that is why in the subsequent paragraphs I am going to write about soccer, my passion.

To begin, you all need to know that since I was 7 years old I have been obsessed with soccer, but at first it was really difficult for my parents to understand where this passion came from because they barely like this sport; however, it took me a couple of days to conclude that soccer is in my DNA thanks to my grandfather (Filipo), an unconditional follower of “Millonarios” and soccer lover. Now, I already knew where that passion came from, but the next step was even more difficult than the last one. I needed to convince my parents to sign me into a soccer team in order for me to begin dreaming that one day I might end up in “La Tricolor”. Yet we all know that persuading our parents isn't an easy job, and of course this time it won't be an exception. Plus all that, by the time I started insisting to my parents, the pandemic arrived, and they did not allow me to go out, so I felt hopeless.

The coronavirus pandemic was a devastating event that forced us to stay home. 2020 passed, 2021 passed, and finally everything was going back to normality in 2022. By this time I had learned a lot of soccer skills at home and the most important, I demonstrated to my parents and my family that even though I like basketball, I want to be a soccer player that wakes up early on the weekends to do what she loves. As a result of persisting, practicing and always dreaming, 6 months ago I entered a club called “New soccer”, in which I practice with girls from 15 to 21 years old and sometimes with the boys team. Even though I'm not the best player, I'm still learning about teamwork. Overall I feel like I am living a dream because, is there something better than waking up before everybody to do what you love? I don't think so.

The experience you just read made me realize that we always want things to happen the way and the moment we want, but as I once heard “we have to give time to time” because in the end life is going to give us the best rewards. This is my story, the story of a girl that loves soccer and didn't give up on her dream of playing in an official team. Life taught me the lesson of working hard to accomplish our goals, and I did it, I earned my soccer classes. Now, what are you going to do to accomplish your dreams?
