Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and you can feel the love air throughout the city. Couples go out on dates, boyfriends and girlfriends are looking for the perfect gift for their loved ones, flowers on every corner, and you can even find Valentine's gifts at “Dollar city”! But sometimes we are not lucky in love, and we happen to experience this celebration alone, which is why I bring you five amazing romance book recommendations for your love expectations to increase and to warm your heart a little bit. Let's start!

 

1. The Love Hypothesis

We will start talking about “The Love Hypothesis,” a romance book by Ali Hazelwood that was a complete hit throughout 2022 on BookTok (the TikTok community for readers). It tells us Olive's story who kisses Adam, the grumpiest professor from her university, for her best friend to date her ex-boyfriend. That is how they start fake dating and maybe, in the meantime, grow feelings for each other. It is a slow romance book that will entertain you, make you love the main male character, and make you laugh while you read. It is perfect for Valentine’s. It has 4.23 stars on “Goodreads,” and you can find it in all bookstores around Colombia.

 

2 . Five Feet Apart

Our second book recommendation is a book that has an amazing movie adaptation.  It tells us the story of Stella and Will, two teenagers with the same lung illness that make them unable to touch each other. We see how their relationship develops without being able to touch each other. It is a sentimental book that not only makes us believe in love again but also appreciates our health and all its benefits (like falling in love without fearing that you will die if you are too close to that particular person). You can find this book in all libraries and bookshops around Colombia, and if you are interested in watching the movie (after you’ve read the book) you can find it on Amazon Prime Video.
 

3.  The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

Before you get scandalized by the name of this book, let me tell you about how amazing it is. It tells us the story of Evelyn Hugo, a retired actress who decides to tell her life story to a young reporter so she can finally share it with the world. That is how we get to see her seven marriages and what’s most important of all, how she starts loving herself despite what the world thinks about her. This is a sensitive book that will make you cry more than once, and relate to her and how she feels, even if our main character is a superstar. It has four and a half stars on “Goodreads” and is available in all bookshops.

4. Before December

What will happen if your boyfriend and I start an open relationship when you enter college? It can go south or fantastic; for Jennifer Brown, it was the second option. She starts to hang out with the best friend of her roomies' boyfriend (why do all of these love stories start with complex relationships’?) who welcomes her to his apartment when her parents can not pay for her dorm. This book is the first part of a trilogy, and I can guarantee that the following two books are even better than the first one. Our main male character is such a lovely person who will leave your love expectations at a high level. It has four and a half stars on “Goodreads' ' and the first and second parts are available in all bookstores around Colombia, the third book will be relaunched on March 9, 2023.

5.  Red, White & Royal Blue

Finally, we have Red, White & Royal Blue to close up this amazing book list. It tells us the story of the son of the President of the United States and his nemesis, the grandson of the Queen of England. They have to pretend to be best friends after a couple of public fights, and because of that, they will develop feelings for each other. It is an incredible book that lets us in the political environment of a young mind which is both captivating and educative. Not only that, but you really will enjoy Alex’s and Henry’s love story and how their feelings start to change for each other. You can find it in all bookstores around Colombia.
