Hi, Hola, Bonjour,  こんにちは, 안녕하세요, مرحبا: these are just some of the ways humans used to greet each other. Right now I’m on my “spaceship” practicing human intelligence and expressing myself on its terms. I’m an “alien”, as they called us. And it is fascinating how they thought they were intelligent when I just acquired their language and way of thinking in a few seconds. That is the reason why I started this “letter”, expressing myself in “English” and thinking in the way society thought in the twentieth century, in human time, obviously. I find it completely funny how humans destroyed themselves and did not even realize that. How they thought that by being rational beings, they were superior, but that made them completely blind to what was the value of life. 

 

           Beginning, I descended to earth and went to a “camp” where some of my species were. Right after I inhaled my daily dose of stardust, I saw something that got my attention: a human diary. Of course, I opened it and after scanning humans' intelligence and way of being, I started reading it. It talked about a girl's life in the year 2022, and what caught my attention is that the most repeated actions were: either sitting down to watch TV or using the cell phone. That is when I realized that humans loved the sensation of numbness that these devices brought to them. I laughed at that because the girl described these actions with normality, not knowing that in that normality the end of the human species was inches close to her present. 

 

            After reading, I sat on a sand dune and started a reflection. Humans had everything to be happy: they had technology, science, and in general logic to help them. They had an understanding of emotions, so if they were indifferent toward something it is because they choose to, not because they could not perceive it. They had tremendous gifts that none of the other terrestrial animals had. Yet, not everything is great: they were egoistic. Throughout their history, they got into wars and conflicts, these being liberated by powerful egos. And the worst of all is that they didn’t learn from their mistakes. In the end, there was a nuclear war that exterminated them, still, most humans reacted to it in the last few years when there was no return point. Because before it, they amused themselves with technology and machines that brought them ephemeral happiness, which filled the place with emptiness. They forgot that they were actually “human” because of nature and evolution, thanks to experiences and curiosity. The last human beings were alone, dumb, and numb. 

 

             This is just a part of my everlasting reflection, in which I can conclude human beings amused themselves to death. They had everything to be great but were obsessed with perfection, so they lost their way and forgot perfection was actually in what made them: nature. Now I am going to close this diary, in which I wrote everything on the last page, and continue my journey learning about civilizations that became extinct all across the multiverse, so it does not happen to mine.
