Amazing three pointers

“Success is not an accident, success is actually a choice”

-Stephen Curry

I'm sure that if you like basketball, you are familiar with the name Stephen Curry, the point guard of the Golden State Warriors from San Francisco, California. If my predictions were right, then you probably know Curry has a notorious talent when it comes to shooting, he is the master of three-pointers, having scored 3,585 points behind the three point line throughout his career.

But, why am I telling you all of this? Well that's because there Ģs someone challenging him in what everyone thought was a field he dominated and was best at: scoring three pointers. This person is the amazing Sabrina Ionescu, who beat Curry Ģs record of 31 three pointers in a row with an incredible 37 baskets in a row in July 2023. Sabrina plays in the position of guard in the New York Liberty team.

Curry and Ionescu are going to face each other in a match that is better known as “Stephen Vs Sabrina,” On February 17th of this year. It obviously has to be fair game, Curry will shoot at an NBA court with a NBA basketball while Sabrina will complete her part of the game at a WNBA court with a WNBA basketball. The match is not just for fun, the money each of the participants earn will go directly to SI20, Ionescu´s non-profit organization. It will also go to other non-profit organizations and a donation will be made from State Farm to the NBA foundation in order to help the black community. With each three pointer they make directly from the line, one thousand dollars will be donated, two thousand dollars for money-ball three pointers, and a shocking three thousand dollars for every shot they make at an elevated distance, in other words, beyond or 9 meters further than required.

Without a doubt, Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu have both showed us the amazing things people can do with enough practice, I mean, shooting a three pointer seems impossible to me as a basketball player but maybe if I keep practicing and practicing I'll better my shooting, form, and strength, and maybe one day beat one of them, who knows? Shooting three-pointers is a hard job but they do it with such ease that it almost looks very simple. What I'm saying is that, at the end of the day, they are both great basketball players with amazing skills who have dominated and been a highlight in their field for a long time inspiring young athletes to fulfill their dreams and keep practicing so they can achieve their goals.

“If you can´t take missing that shot, you can't take making that shot, either.

If you´re not ready to lose the game for us, you´re never going to be ready to win the game”

-Sabrina Ionescu
